Installation of thickening machine
In order to adapt the treatment plant to increased wastewater flow rates, an additional Klein gravity sludge thickener belt (GPT) has been installed. The function of this machine is to thicken biological sludge left over from the activated sludge process, thereby reducing the quantity of sludge sent to the stabilization process in the organic digesters. The new machine has a sludge flow rate of 140 m³ per hour. The machine receives secondary sludge at concentrations of 0.5% and thickens it to concentrations of 5%. The machine was activated in 2014 and has been operating satisfactorily.
